31 in 31 – will you join us?

During the month of December, 10 volunteers from the Branch Executive (some ‘coerced’) will be taking part in the Aviation Action 31 runway runs in 31 days – and all for the good cause of supporting the industry during Covid-19. There’s more information in the donation link below.

Each day in December, a new distance challenge will see participants run the equivalent of one runway length somewhere in the UK (and occasionally further afield, see Rovaniemi on Christmas Day). These range from the UK’s longest, Heathrow at nearly 4km, to the world’s most famous beach runway, Barra at an appealing 799m. All said, we’ll be running 66,808 metres in a month, that’s just over 41 miles!

The Branch Executive participants are Paul W (Branch Chair), Paul U (Branch Vice Chair), Leo & Ant (AC Section), Lee & Tony (PC Section) Aaron & Eamonn (Int’l & Govt Affairs), Dave (Chair WP) and Mike (Chair Branch Operations & Strategy).

We will be sharing (unflattering?) photos of our challengers on our social media accounts, as well as maintaining what we hope will be an impressive leader board. We also hope to shine the spotlight on certain units as we run their runway on certain days to remind ourselves of the value of a strong union and what we achieve together as one in solidarity, especially this year.

So, who’s joining us?

We would love to see our membership join us for one or all the runs! You can sign up here. Even if you haven’t signed up but still manage to ‘join’ us for a run-in solidarity, send your photos to [email protected], or tag us on the usual social media channels and we’ll repost.

Finally, as it’s all for a really good cause, we ask our membership to support it by donating as you always do generously on the Branch’s JustGiving page here.

Can you just confirm registration dates for this. It’s the 29th November today, 30th tomorrow which seems to be a cut-off date within the registration process ? Nothing like plenty of notice 🤔

Yes it’s a bit tight for getting your t-shirt for the 1st, but you can still register and join us anyway – the t-shirt won’t be far behind, and the money is still going to a good cause..
